With increasing market supply of Xinjiang cotton, more and more textile enterprises and cotton enterprises choose highway transportation to transport cotton from Xinjiang to inland regions. They use the cotton to produce every kind of textile products, such as garments, pattern cotton jacquard fabrics and toys. Compared with railway transportation, this mean can guarantee on-time delivery.
Nevertheless, the growing amount of purchase results in road traffic tension. The highway freight thus increases greatly. There are even some enterprises that hire none vehicles to transport goods away from Xinjiang.
It is known that, the Railways Bureau will change the charge method of railway transportation in recent days. This will be conducive to decrease the train freight of cotton transported from Xinjiang to other places.
The current charge mode of railway transportation is on base of the trainload of per freight train. It is 60 tons. However, an entire freight train of cotton is 43.5 tons weight. That is, the freight of cotton is over charged for about 20 tons per freight train. This is adverse to the manufacturers of knitted fabrics and other textile products. Once the charge mode was changed, the goods will be charged according to the real weight.
It is said that the new charge method was planed to implement from 12 October. Nevertheless, the official document has not been released at present. According to the insiders, this change will influence highway transportation to some extent. It will relieve the current tension of road traffic. But the highway traffic still boasts the advantage of flexible transportation time.
